UTOPI'S STORY

Utopi is a modular, compartmental box made up of jigsaw-like pieces. It can be transformed into many forms of play, dependent on the child's own imagination and how they wish to use Utopi - there is no right or wrong way!

Utopi's box shape allows the toy to be packaged back up efficiently and the sustainable wooden material is not only better for the environment, but allows it to fit in with the more 'adult' living room - no more ugly plastic parts lying around!

Utopi Box comes with various 'add on' options, a variety of additional modular toys that can fit into the compartments of the main Utopi box. These 'add ons' cover many forms of play from fantasy play through to locomotive play, for a range of ages.

The problem

Plastic waste

Plastic toys account for 90 percent of the toy market and, since they are composed of a range of materials, are often impossible to recycle.

Overconsumption

Researchers have reported findings that children who played with 16 toys, as opposed to four, were less creative with their play and played for half the time than those with fewer toys.

Loss of meaningful play

There are a lack of toys on the market encouraging more meaningful and developmental play, especially ones that engage a child in what is called 'open-ended' play; play without boundaries or rules.

The main component of Utopi, the modular wooden box, is made from sustainable wood which is durable and easily recyclable at the end of its life.

Less toys, more imagination

Utopi box is, in itself, a single toy with a multitude of possibilities for play. Within this, there is opportunity to store 4 additional Utopi 'add ons', meaning your child has a range of options for play, but never too much as to hinder imagination.

Meaningful play

Utopi box encourages open-ended, meaningful play by handing over control and creativity to the child. Due to Utopi's modularity, there is no set way of using it. Open-ended play is crucial for learning and intellectual growth, as well as for social and emotional intelligence.
